Joker Illustration

For this project, I wanted to study the basic fundamentals composition and value. To achieve this, I used a film scene from Joker (2019) as a reference and decided to do a quick study. I sketched out the initial shapes of the scene, simplifying the background to a single dark value. To study the various values in the scene, I decided to challenge myself by using a single pencil brush and cross-hatched the entire illustration. This allowed me to additionally think about the ways in which I was approaching this value study, achieving a look that I am very happy with for a fundamentals study.
