Fish Illustration

I've been drawn lately to painting different marine time objects and aquatic life. Specifically, I've been drawn to the vibrant colors of different fish that often mix with the misty greys that are so often associated with the sea and coastal cities. In this passion painting, I worked to study the various colors present on these Fish, the mix of deep greens, yellows, oranges, teals and frosty blues. It challenged me to think about how to blend, combine, and saturate the colors properly to truly bring the (dead, still-life) Fish to life. Working on this painting also challenged me on how to convey different textures, from the slimy skin to the harsh scales, to the smooth texture of the bucket in the background.
